Verizon Enterprise Solutions Breached Leaving 1.5M Records Up For Grabs

Verizon Enterprise Solutions security wing suffered a major breach…

Verizon Enterprise Solutions security wing suffered a major breach exposing 1.5 million consumers’ contact information.  It was reported by USA Today, the breach did no involve consumer consumer’s data, but included contact information for Fortune 500 companies.  According to Hackread, the information up for grabs was for sale in increments of 100,000 records for USD $10,000 or all of the 1.5 million records for USD $100,000.  Although the information may not provide an immediate cash flow, like if one steals credit card information, it could present an even larger risk.  With the data exposed, hackers could potentially use it for future phishing attacks.  PC Pitstop’s Vice President of Cybersecurity, Dodi Glenn, made the following quote to USA Today,

“A lot of Fortune 500 companies use Verizon Enterprise Solutions — makes you wonder if some of those who purchased the data may have plans to use the information to start phishing attacks, since it contains information from companies with lots of money.”
