PC Matic Expands to Android Protection – Available Now on Google Play

With malware threats on mobile devices increasing at exponential rates, we determined it is time to expand our award-winning protection, PC Matic, to Android devices.  This mobile security solution provides our real-time protection as well as on-demand scanning.

This security solution allows for peace of mind when installing apps.  PC Matic for Android devices scans apps as they are installed for any signs of malicious behaviour.
The on-demand feature allows for optional scanning of every existing file, including system files, on your device for viruses.  The software also includes a scheduled scan option, which the user is able to adjust according to their needs – daily, hourly, weekly or not at all.  Users are also able to manage their device from the web by viewing stats and scan history from any computer.  Lastly, PC Matic for Android devices allows the user to whitelist certain apps.  If our solution detects an app that you use as being potentially harmful, you can whitelist that app so that it won’t be scanned in the future.

  1. I have PC Matic installed on 4 devices. Two Win 10 and two Android devices. Win 10 full scan takes several hours and I’m ok with that as I can see what’s being scanned.
The Android devices runs for about 9 seconds. It appears to only do a file and app count. Unlike the Windows scan which found and fixed a bunch of issues, the Android scans did not turn up any issues.
I am concerned that PC Matic is working properly on the Android devices.

  2. PC Matic has been installed on my computer for awhile. Yesterday I installed it on my Android via the Google Play Store and logged in successfully. When I open the app on my phone, it says “2 out of 5” licenses. However, on my computer, it shows only my computer as being licensed. How do I show my Android license on my PC, or do I need it listed on my PC?

    • Hi Patty, it does not need to be listed on your PC, unless you wanted to review any information regarding your phone protection on your PC. If you’d like, you may reach out to our support team at http://www.pcmatic.com/help and they can help get the phone showing up on your PC. Thanks!

    • PC Matic is compatible with Android devices. To download you will need to go to the Google Play Store, search PC Matic for Android, download the app, and log in using your PC Matic credentials. • To put PC Matic on your Android phone, you will need to go to the Google Play store, download PC Matic for Android, and log in using your PC Matic credentials. If you have done so successfully, your phone will be protected. You will also be able to see your phone details when you log in to PC Matic on your computer, and it will show it as one of your five protected devices.

      • @Devin Bergin: I have pc-matic on my computer and my android phone. On my phone I’m getting some very adult requests seemingly from chrome. When I run PC-Matic, it doesn’t pick this up. My guess it is spam, but I’m not sure. Will PC-Matic find and remove spam as well? I don”t know what to do. Thank you, Don

        • These are most likely just ads or popups you’re seeing while web browsing. There is nothing for PC Matic to block or clean up, but you can just close the window when you see it.

  6. What if I upgrade my phone? Can I transfer the existing license or does that count as a new instance toward the 5 maximum?

  7. Last month I purchased PC Matic for my PC so I should have 4 more licenses available. If I go the the Google Play Store and download the android app will I get charged for it or is it cost free?

    • You will not be charged, it will just go towards one of your four existing available devices. Therefore, you will just need to go to Google Play, install and then login with your email and password you have associated with your PC Matic account. Great question!

  8. We had pcmatic before but went back to Norton because I had such a hard time getting any tech support from you. Am currently looking to find protection for two Android Motorola phones. Not very tech savvy, need plain instructions. What do you offer for our phones?

    • Elisabeth, I’m sorry that you were not satisfied with our support offerings. Our customer support team can be reached 7 days a week at pcmatic.com/help. In terms of Android protection, we do offer a smartphone application that you can download from the Google Play store. Each Android phone you log in on will count as 1 license on your 5 license plan which costs $50.

    • Are your tablets using an Android operating system? Our product is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 7, 8, 10 and Android. If you are using one of those as an OS, and still aren’t seeing the icon, please reach out to our support team at http://www.pcmatic.com/help to assist in determining the issue. Thank you.
