Select Restaurants Inc. Hacked — Number of Breached Credit Cards Remains Unknown

Select Restaurants Inc. Breached

A little over a month ago, Select Restaurants Inc. was notified by their point-of-sales (PoS) system that there had been a breach.  The breach compromised the credit and debit card data held by the company.  Select Restaurants Inc. is not releasing the number of payment files that have been breached, nor are they sharing which restaurants were targeted.  Select Restaurants owns several high-end eateries nationwide, such as Parkers’ Lighthouse and Pier W.

Google is also alerting web users, that the company’s website may be compromised.

Breaching Restaurant Payment Data Isn’t New

We recently wrote, More Security Breaches, Why Restaurants Are Becoming The Hacker’s Dream.   This article discussed why the restaurant industry is being targeted, and the security vulnerabilities the industry continues to face.  Over the last few years, there have been breaches at Landry’s Restaurants, CiCi’s Pizza, and Wendy’s, to name a few.

  1. Hi Kayla,
I’ve received PCPitstop’s newsletter for quite some time now. I enjoy most of the content, but could do without every report of new hackings and ransomeware attacks throughout the world.
I live near Vancouver Canada and have no interest in reading about yet another attack in Atlanta or Buffalo, etc.
It’s just too much and every similar post just says the same thing.

Thank you for the feedback Dennis. Do you have a particular topic you’d like to see more of? We do our best to try and keep the content diversified, but if something is specifically noteworthy–we may run heavy on ransomware or breaches on a particular week. Again, let me know what you’d like to see more of, and I will do my best to create more of a balance. Have a great day!
