SKYPE Trends

Skype is freeware that allows users to make telephone calls to other users of the service, and to free-of-charge numbers; calls to landlines and mobile phones are made for a fee. Additional features include instant messaging file transfer, and video conferencing.

Skype was founded in 2003 in little Tallinn, Estonia, and is now available in 28 languages, and is used in almost every country around the world. Recently Skype reached new popularity in 2008 with its release for the Sony PSP hand-held gaming system, and obtaining the new video chat “Ask the Expert lifeline” segment from Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. So even with the introduction of full-service VoIP providers like Vonage, we think Skype is still a strong contender in the Internet Telephony category.

There’s a huge disparity between Desktops & Portables in regards to Skype installations.

Skype use overall is on a upward Trend.

  1. I spend a lot of time reading blogs and I have to say I’m impressed with your posts. It’s refreshing to find a blog that has valuable content such as yours. I’ll be a regular reader from now on, you can count on it.

  2. Skype looks fascinating. I have it mounted up on my computer since it came with the computer system. However, I haven’t been able to talk to any of my buddies into putting it on their system. I suppose one of these days, one of my friends, will finally buy a new computer system that will have the camera and software installed. I can hardly wait!
